My guest blogger today is a fellow Doctor Who fan, looking back over the last three series. Hello, my name is Morgan. I am 22. Previously, I wrote a blog about Doctor Who, and how my Mum introduced me to this sciency show, who can regenerate their body when dying. In this article, I will be writing all about the Chris Chibnall/Jodie Whittaker era. |
Before I start talking about Series 11 and what my favourite episodes are, I'd like to start by saying... We were introduced to Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor on the 16th July 2017, after the Men's Wimbledon Final ( Federer VS Čilić ). The reaction was mixed, but I for one, loved the idea of a female Doctor.
To truly begin this chapter of the article, episode 1 of Series 11 aired on the 7th October 2018, written by Chris Chibnall, who last wrote The Power of Three, which was an Eleventh Doctor adventure, also episode 1 of Series 11 was directed by Jamie Childs. Oh, I forgot to mention, in this era of Who, we had a new composer called Segun Akinola, as Murray Gold left the role after 12 years!
This episode was watched by 10.9 million people, the show last had this viewing figure for the Time of The Doctor which was 11.1 million.
I'd like to talk about my favourites from Series 11. So, my favourite episodes are The Woman Who Fell To Earth, Rosa, Demons of the Punjab, Kerblam!, The Witchfinders and Resolution. I'll give S11 a 7.5/10.
Series 12: January 2020 In this second series under Chris Chibnall and the role as The Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker, kicked off on New Years Day 2020, with the episode Spyfall Part 1, where we saw the return of the enemy, The Master, who is now played by Sacha Dhawan. I'd like to talk about the series as a whole, from the destruction of Gallifrey, again in episode 1 to the Timeless Child reveal in Episode 10. This series has all the thrills, chills, and epic adventures with The Doctor, Yaz, Graham and Ryan. This is one of my favourite series of Who! |
The first episode of Flux aired on the 31st October 2021 entitled The Halloween Apocalypse, the ending of this chapter of Flux, felt very Broadchurch styled showing all the different characters.
My favourite chapters from Flux were Chapter 2 (War on the Sontarans), Chapter 4 (Village of the Angels) and Chapter 5 (Survivors of the Flux). Before I conclude this article, I'd like to say that The Power of the Doctor is my favourite special and finishes Jodie's/Chris Chibnall era off well!
