My guest writer today is Helen Price, who creates wonderful Doctor Who pictures. I'll hand you straight over to Helen, to tell you her story.

I am 41 years old and I am a mum to a little girl call Charlotte.  I call her my little miracle, because several years ago I was told I could never have kids, and then she popped along!

I used to work at Charing Cross Hospital in the NHS, until tragically, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer seven years ago, and he passed away. He used to look after my daughter, and then within the two years after he passed away, Charlotte was diagnosed with autism and special-needs so I had to give up my job to look after her full-time.

So I’m not only her mum, I’m also her carer, because, even though she’s 10 years old, she still needs a lot of help with her physical, emotional, social, and intellectual skills.

After Covid, I started to watch Doctor Who again. I’ve always been into Doctor Who since 2005. David Tennant is my favorite, as the 10th Doctor but I also think Peter Capaldi was born for that role. And I remember before I met my husband I used to have a life journal account where people can post their fan work. My dad put Photoshop on my PC, and I used to do wallpaper for my computer because I couldn’t find a great Doctor Who wallpaper with Ten and Rose.

I found this app on my iPad and I thought why don’t I start doing them again?  That’s how I got started making these edits.

At the beginning, I must admit I was very rusty, but as the year went on since I’ve been making them, I’ve noticed that my style and my creativity has improved.

I also found that making them is therapeutic, as I suffer from bad anxiety because of health problems I had in the past, to do with my hormones.

I found that making these edits helps to smooth my anxiety. Because I really put so much effort and time into making them, I’ve been asked before, would I ever want to sell them? I don’t know if I could, and that is something I need to think hard about, but I’m just grateful for the support and the encouragement that people have given me for just saying that.

I think it’s wonderful that my edits make me feel really good. When you love a show that has helped so much during your dark times, as well as in the good times, and you express it through your art, it’s a wonderful feeling, and that is why I’m trying to push them more on my socials for people to enjoy.
